Being Dramatic????

Ok, I had the worst night of my life, since I have been on my own. In the middle of the night, around 1:00 am, my door bell rings. I'm freaking out! Of course I have wild hair, I can't see (my contacts of course are not in...I'm sleepy for Pete's sake), so I have to grab my glasses and my robe! By that time the door bell rang again! Lucky is barking up a storm (I'm so glad he's there to protect me). I grab my cell phone and call my mom asking if it happened to be them outside, since they are the only ones whoever came over. So, I have my mom and dad all up and worried on the phone. I'm whispering to my mom what is going on, so the person outside can't hear me, but I know they know I'm there....Lucky is barking still!

I try to sneak a peak out of my front window, but I couldn't see the guy, and I can hear a car running. So, I tell my mom that I'm going to go find my gun just in case...yes all of you out there, I have a daddy who gave me a gun, and I do have my concealed weapons permit. The concealed weapons permit class is running through my mind...I can't shoot the guy unless he makes a threat to me, or I can get in trouble, but then again, I don't want to shoot anyone, I'm not that type of person, but I have been trained...fair warning! JK

My mom asks if she wants me to have her come over, but no way! I don't want her out there for her to get hurt and my dad's knee is really bad after his surgery, so he can't come rescue me! So they are my lifeline on the phone!

So, the person finally stops ringing the doorbell, but continues to stand at the door forever! I'm still whispering to my mom this whole time on the phone. I go back and forth from the front window to the guest bedroom window, but I still can't get a good look at this guy or the truck/car. I can hear that it's a diesel type of truck, but no clue who this person is! I finally see the guy leave to get in the car/truck, but then they sit in the car for another 5-10 minutes. OH MY GOSH! I'm freaked out!

The car finally leaves, this time it's about 1:30 am, and of course I'm not going to sleep any time soon because any little noise now is scary. I hang up with my mom, and Lucky is all ready asleep (lucky dog...no pun intended). And I just lie there for the rest of the night until my alarm goes off at 3:45 to get ready for work. I call my mom about 5:00 (for her wake up call--she asked me to the night before), and of course she couldn't sleep either, her mind was wandering all over the place. SORRY MOM!!! I only received about 3 hours of sleep! I'm hoping to make it for the whole day!

Am I being over dramatic? I was plain dang scared! I think I might sleep over at my parent's tonight, just in case! Lucky and I will share the twin bed! :)

Something like that happened to Seth and I right after we were married. We lived on the EAST side of Flag...if you know what I mean:) and at like 2am some drunk lady rang our door bell insisting on seeing some boyfriend or such...it was bizarro but we were both pretty freaked and took forever to open the door! FUNNY story someday though!

Haha. I live in Flagstaff- on the West side:) Hehe, the East side can be pretty weird as I agree with the above post, BUT I have had weirdos knock on my door at late hours when it was just me and the kiddo. I think it is always good to not answer the door and let them go away. If he persistantly rang your bell though and sat in the car for awhile, I would have called the cops though. I am glad you are ok. I would spend the night at my parents too if I just needed a good night after that though, no shame in that!

No you are not being dramatic!! My sister came over one night when we lived in AZ, and rang the door bell. I was on the phone with my dad, and Paul was upstairs asleep, and I started to cry I was so scared!!! My husband was in the house for hell's sake. I would be way more scared if I were alone. You seem super brave to me!!!

Oh shit Michelle. Sorry for the cuss word, but seriously THIS is my most biggest fear. I am home alone ALL the time and I am overly paranoid about something like this happening to me. I did have someone try to come into my house through the garage, and of course the cops were called, who could find nothing, so I felt safe knowing I had them on my side!!!

AHHHH! I don't mean to add flame to your fire, and yes you have every right to be dramatic! I would be a hysterical mess, actually I am and it wasn't even me!!! Freak, I hope he doesn't come back. You'll have to kung-foo him for all us scaredy cats.

Who the heck is coming to your house at 1 am and then lingering because you won't answer the door. You should have shot him just for being rude and then dragged his body across your door like he was trying to get in.

I would be TOTALLY freaked too. I don't blame you!

Oh my goodness I would have been so scared! So glad you are safe! You're not overreacting - you can never be too careful or cautious. I'm glad you have Lucky, your parents are not too far away, and glad you have a gun and know how to use it. Don't be afraid to call the police though!

HOLY CRAP! No, seriously this same kind of thing happened to me when we lived in Texas...it was about 2 months after I was followed in my apartment complex by a guy with a gun...I was out walking with my kids. Anyway, mine ended up being a group of HS kids, but Jase was gone ona camp out and I was freaked out ALL NIGHT! Glad you're ok.
