Here's to February!

So, I was just looking at my archive folder, and I have posted every month for almost the last 4 years (July will be 4 years). And I really have nothing too much to say, but I wanted to get at least one post in for February since it's the beginning of the month :)

My mom, dad and I have been spending a lot of time in my back yard. The dogs love it...and I'm beginning to. My yard was a disaster the whole time I've lived there. But now, we have a garden, a shed, and a sprinkler system (almost done). Next step is sod, putting back the flagstone path and gravel! Hopefully the sod will come this weekend. Pictures will be posted as soon as I have time :)

It's funny how day to day flies by (most of the time) and I have nothing major going on but our projects, but it's fun and I like seeing the changes that are coming. I can't wait for it to be done and to sit out and enjoy a nice yard!

Hopefully I'll have something more exciting, but here's to posting for February!

Candles! Final Craft for now

So, I got a tool box for Christmas (see this post --http://michellejanhall.blogspot.com/2010/07/anyone-out-there-i-want-one-of-these.html) and so I wanted some cute candles to go in it. I saw this on another blog and thought I could do it too! So, I'll call this decorative candles!

So, this is the finished product. All you need are candles and tissue paper oh...and glue! I looked everywhere for fun black and white tissue paper and of course Wal-Mart my last choice was where this was at!

All you have to do is cut the tissue paper to fit the candle

Get your candle

And glue! I used rubber cement since it was clear and fast and easy!

wrap 1/2 way and glue some more.

Here's the end....just glue down the end!

I made 4 of them! Aren't they fancy??

And here they are in my toolbox that my uncle made me for Christmas!

My candles and my balls! LOL

Now I need more crafts to do!

Decorative Balls--Craft #2

So, here's another idea I saw, stole and tried. You know those decorative balls people have that they put in a bowl or basket? Well, make some of your own!

I wanted some for my kitchen. I'm not going to have any more room in my kitchen after I do all these! Black and white is so fun!

First ...find some napkins of the design you like. I found these at target! So cute, I bought the black and the white ones!

Next...trim off all the black around the design.

Take Mod Podge and glue all around a styrofoam ball. Then wrap the napkin around it.

Now....for the ends, do the same thing with parts of another napkin. It looks funny now, but trust me, it all turns out.

Then mod podge all over 1/2 of it, and place on a paper plate....you don't want it sticking to the plate

Repeat for all the balls you want.

My white napkins were smaller, so I had more space to fill

Starting my white ones!

Let them dry for about 10 mins, and then apply the mod podge to other sides. I rotated them every 10 mins until they weren't sticky anymore.

Here they are all completed!

I even put some black and white ribbon around my new bowl

And there you go! Decorative balls! Or whatever they are called!

Making an Ornament Wreath

Here's my attempt at making an ornament wreath. I saw one in the store and found a tutorial on a blog and thought I could make one cheaper! :) First, I took a foam wreath and put a ribbon loop on it to hang (glued). Then I wrapped silver garland around the wreath. I glued in a few spots just so it would hold.

Here's the wreath with the garland all around. Don't mind the messy table, it's our craft painting table.

Then I just started glueing on the ornaments. Beware, it takes a lot of glue and a lot of ornaments. I used all different sizes and just "eyed" it where I thought they should go.

Here it is about 1/2 way through. It's ok if there are gaps, I will add little ornaments, bells, and bead garland later.

Loving it so far!

Here's the wreath with all the ornaments on. I think it turned out pretty darn cute!

Next I wound silver bead garland throughout the ornaments. I picked it up and wherever it dangled I glued it!

Here it is all finished with the beads

Next I found some white and silver bells. So I just glued them on when I saw little holes or gaps

Here's my finished wreath! I can't wait to use it next year. Ya, I made it after Christmas, the ornaments were cheaper to get after Christmas!

Just a close up!

Turned out pretty good!

Here's the one I made for my mom. I loved how it turned out too! I love the glittery ornaments!

Crafts

I've been working on some different crafts that I've seen in the store or on online...I'll be posting some of them and the instructions. Hope you enjoy them!

RIP Dear Old Friend

I'm saying farwell to a buddy of mine that I have had for about 10 years. I have had these since I moved from Thatcher to Flagstaff many years ago. They have been there for me, and I've worn them out ! I'm missing them so much! I know it's completely out of style, but they were my comforter! Anyone that knows me or has seen me, has probably seen me in these overalls. I've worn them as long as I could, until a hole ripped in the buttocks area! I had to trash them and I was so sad! I will never find anything like them again, who makes overalls these days? Or who wears them these days? MICHELLE HALL does!

Rest in Peace my friend! Until we meet again! LOL

New Years

It's that time of year again! Time to reflect, ponder, and set goals. This year was good, nothing too much going on which can be a good thing. I'm grateful for my family, friends, a job, my house, my car, food on the table, and Lucky! It's been a great year and the year ended great! Bring on 2011, it's going to be great!

Here are some of my goals I've been thinking of.

1) Trying to do this again---Flirt with a guy

2) Losing at least 50 lbs---trying not to set it too high so I can accomplish it

3) Read the Ensign every month--- I pay for it and only do the visiting teaching message

4) Read the Book of Mormon

5) Go on at least 1 date! LOL

6) Do my Visiting Teaching every month---100% for the year!

7) Be a better daughter, friend, and person

Hope you all had a great New Year's! Let's make 2011 the best one yet!
